Bonds

While Barry Bonds is known as an incredible baseball player, it is other things about him which may eventually be what he is remembered for. Bonds won four MVP awards as an outfielder, four years in a row. He played in the 2007 World Series and is one of the most widely known players in the sport. In 2006, he surpassed even Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron in home runs.

Arod

Alex Rodriguez affectionately known as A-Rod to his team mates and fans is the third base man for the New York Yankees. Alex was born in Washington Heights New York City where the family lived until he was four. The family then moved back to their native Dominican Republic, they lived there a short time before returning to the states to live in Miami Florida. Alex’s father would soon abandon the family to return to New Jersey.

Welcome To CitiField

Citi Field, the new New York Mets stadium which will replace Shea Stadium got its new name after a negotiation over naming rights with Citi Bank; netting the team $20 million per year! Not too shabby for a team which is projecting an income of around $400 million over the next twenty years. Delta Airlines also reached an agreement with the Mets organization and has received naming rights for a significant portion of the park, right behind home plate. The new stadium will feature a number of amenities to fans over those offered by Shea Stadium. The new Jackie Robinson Rotunda will be unveiled on Opening Day 2009, greeting visitors to the new home of the Mets. A look at the photos of this planned rotunda reveals an homage to the entrance of the late, lamented Ebbets Field, former home of the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Babe Ruth Baseball

Babe Ruth is a name which is instantly familiar to people around the world; even those who are not baseball fans and those far too young to actually remember the Sultan of Swat know his name and are familiar with the House That Ruth Built. Among younger Major League players, one of Babe’s superstitions has taken hold. As Babe said “whenever I hit a home run, I always make sure I touch all four bases”. Babe Ruth was larger than life in every sense of the word and he remains deeply rooted in the popular imagination - for there may be another like him.

Cristiano Ronaldo, born February 5, 1985 plays winger for the English Premier League club Manchester United. As a youth player, Sir Alex Ferguson, who signed the eighteen year old to a 21.24 million contract in 2003, where in that same year he won his first cap for the Portuguese, noted Ronaldo’s talent. As a delight to his fans, Cristiano reach the final of the UEFA Euro in 2004 and scored his first international goal.

David Reutimann

The son of legendary racer (and DIRT Motorsports Hall of Famer) Emil “Buzzy” Reuitman, David Reutimann is the third generation in his family to take up the sport, sometimes racing with his father at Florida’s East Bay Raceway Park (known as the Clay by the Bay by fans).

Ronaldinho–Truly One of Soccer’s Great Ones

Ronaldinho (Ronaldo de Assis Moreira) was born on March 21, 1980 in Porto Alegre, Brazil and would rise to be one of soccer’s greatest. The five-foot eleven, one-hundred seventy-seven pound forward would wow audiences with his mastery as early as 1999, beginning amateur play following in his father Joao’s footsteps, becoming skilled in beach and indoor (futbal) soccer.

Lakers tickets are selling out quick - get them while you can

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most popular teams in the NBA, next to the Boston Celtics that is. Last season, the team was devastated by a loss to the Celtics during NBA finals. The Lakers are still recovering from this loss, yet fans stay loyal. Even with this disappointment, Lakers tickets continue to sell.
